The Puppetry Arts Theatre Workshop can provide not only the talent for puppetry performances but is available to create the magnificent and charming puppet characters for productions on television, film, and stage.
Designing It!
TPAT will discuss the goals and purpose of the project and characters and begin the process of building the puppet by sketching ideas of its design based on the client’s needs.
Once sketches are approved, the character will be depicted in a portfolio of quality color drawings often showing various emotions and positions.
If requested, a model will be provided depicting a three-dimensional sculpture of the character.
Building It!
Once the designs are approved, a prototype of the puppet will be constructed. This prototype will offer opportunity for constructive growth, assuring the movement, size, and capabilities of the puppet fit the needs of the production.
At this stage, materials for the actual puppet and its costume (if any) are decided upon.
When all materials and the sculpted puppet itself are approved, a Preliminary Final Form is created. The Preliminary Final Form puppet can be used for rehearsals and/or camera tests to assure its impact.
Having implemented all changes and improvements, The Final Form puppet is then constructed using all approved designs and materials established during the process.
Depending on the size and mechanics of the character, a puppet can be constructed with in a 4 to 6 week period. Large-scale puppets have a turn around time of 8 to 12 weeks.
